When a player is kicked or cannot stay connected, Minecraft shows a short message. Find yours below. For anything not listed, check the server Console in the panel at the moment the player was kicked; the real reason is usually printed there.
Connection

| End of stream | The server stopped sending data, often because it crashed or restarted | Read the Console for a crash |
| Read timed out | The server stopped hearing from the player | Usually the player’s internet; see ping issues |
| Internal Exception: java.io.IOException | The connection dropped or a packet failed | Often a plugin or mod; on modpacks see packet errors |
| Internal server error | The server hit an error handling the player | The Console shows the plugin or mod at fault |
Login and version

Bans and kicks

| You are banned from this server | The account is banned. It may show a reason and an end date. An admin removes it with pardon <name> |
| Your IP address is banned | The IP is banned. Removed with pardon-ip <ip> |
| Kicked by an operator | Someone ran /kick |
| You have been idle for too long | player-idle-timeout in server.properties kicked an AFK player. Set it to 0 to turn this off |
Chat and movement

| Illegal characters in chat | The message had a blocked character such as § |
| Flying is not enabled on this server | The server thinks the player is flying in Survival. Set allow-flight=true if you use flight plugins or mods |
| Invalid move / moved too quickly | The anti-cheat thought the movement was impossible, often from lag or a mod |
Plugins such as anti-cheats and ban managers add their own messages. If a message names a plugin, look at that plugin’s config or its page under Plugins and Mods.
