Running a ServerHow to check your Minecraft ping

Ping is the round-trip time between your computer and the server, in milliseconds (ms). Lower is better. Our servers are in Singapore, so Philippine players usually see low numbers.

In the game

Open Multiplayer, find your server in the list, and hover over the signal bars on the right. A tooltip shows your ping.

Windows

  1. Open the Start Menu, search for cmd, and open Command Prompt.
  2. Type ping followed by your server’s IP address and press Enter.
  3. Read the time= value in each reply.

macOS and Linux

Open Terminal and run ping followed by the server IP. Replies keep coming until you press Ctrl + C.

What the numbers mean

PingMeaning
0 to 50 msExcellent
50 to 100 msGood
100 to 200 msSome lag likely
200 ms and aboveHard to play comfortably

High ping usually comes from your own internet, Wi-Fi congestion, or distance. If you keep getting disconnected even with good ping, see ping issues to run an MTR and then open a ticket on our Discord .
