Find the player ID
- Steam: a 17-digit Steam64 ID, usually starting with 7656. A Steam ID lookup site can find it from the profile link.
- Xbox: an ID starting with
Xbox_followed by numbers. - Game Pass or crossplay: a short PlayFab ID of letters and numbers.
The easiest way is to have the player try to join, then read their name and ID from the server Console tab.
Add the admin

Stop the server first so your edit is not overwritten.
- In the panel , open Files, then
.config,unity3d,IronGate,Valheim. - Edit
adminlist.txt. Put one ID per line with no spaces. - Save and start the server.
Open the in-game console
- In Steam, right-click Valheim, choose Properties, and under Launch Options enter
-console. - Launch the game, join your server, and press
F5.

Cheat commands such as god, fly and spawn do not work on a normal dedicated server, even for admins. They need a mod like Server Devcommands installed on both the server and every client, see mods.
