Games7 Days to Die7 Days to Die worlds: new, upload and reset
⚠️

Stop the server and back up your world before changing anything. See backups. Do not stop the server while a new world is generating.

All of these use serverconfig.xml, see settings.

Random world

  1. Set GameWorld to RWG.
  2. Set WorldGenSeed to any text and WorldGenSize to 4096, 6144, 8192 or 10240. The same seed and size always give the same map.
  3. Set GameName to a new name.
  4. Save and start. The first start can take a long time for big sizes. Watch the Console.

Pregenerated map

Check the Data/Worlds folder for map names, set GameWorld to the exact name, set a new GameName, and start.

Upload an existing world

  1. On your PC, copy Saves/[GameWorld]/[GameName]/. For a random world also copy GeneratedWorlds/[world name]/, because the save stores progress and the second folder stores the map.
  2. Upload both to the matching places in Files in the panel  (use SFTP for big folders).
  3. Set GameWorld and GameName to match the folder names exactly.
  4. Start the server.

Players keep their characters because they are tied to their platform ID.

Reset

Change GameName for a fresh save on the same map. Change WorldGenSeed or WorldGenSize as well for a different random map.

If a world will not load, check capitalization of the names, that the terrain folder exists, and that the server version matches the save’s version. Saves from a major older version may not load.
