Introduction
Every ATBP Hosting plan includes a set number of backup slots. See the backups overview and the plan tables for how many slots your plan has.
You can create backups manually or on a schedule, and later download, restore, lock or delete them. All of this is done from the Backups tab of the panel at https://panel.atbphosting.com .
Backups are provided but not guaranteed. Download a backup now and then and keep your own copy of anything important.
Manual Backup Creation
- Open your server in the panel and go to the Backups tab.
- Click Create Backup.
- Optionally give it a name, and optionally list files or folders to ignore.
- Confirm. The backup runs in the background and may take a while on large servers.
If all your backup slots are used, you need to delete or unlock an old backup before creating a new one. If you need more slots, you can add Extra Backups from billing, see Backups.
Automatic Backup Creation
You can use the schedules feature to create backups automatically.
- Open the Schedules tab and create a new schedule (for example, daily).
- Add a task with the action Create backup.
- Save the schedule and make sure it is enabled.
Very frequent backup schedules (for example hourly on a big world) can cause lag. Daily is enough for most servers.
Restoring Backups
HEADS UP!
Restoring will overwrite files on your server with the files from the backup. Make sure you have a recent backup of the current state first if you might need it.
To restore a backup, stop your server, open the Backups tab, click the menu on the backup you want, and choose Restore. Confirm the prompt and wait for the restore to finish before starting the server again.
If you only need a few files, you can download the backup, extract it on your computer, and upload just those files back with the File Manager or SFTP.
Downloading Backups
Open the Backups tab, click the menu on a backup and choose Download. Your browser will download the backup as an archive.
Download links are private to your account and expire after a short time, so keep them to yourself.
Locking
Locking a backup protects it from being deleted by accident. A locked backup cannot be deleted until you unlock it.
Use the menu on the backup and choose Lock (or Unlock to undo it).
Deleting Backups
If you no longer need a backup, use the menu on it and choose Delete. This frees up a backup slot.
HEADS UP!
Deleting is irreversible. Deleted backups cannot be recovered. Backups are also deleted when a server is deleted, for example 7 days after an unpaid due date.
