GamesPalworldUpload or move a Palworld world
⚠️

Make a backup in the Backups tab first, and keep a copy of the world on your PC until everything works.

1. Find the world on your PC or old host

  • Single player or co-op (Windows): press Windows + R, paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames and open the folder named with your Steam ID. Each world is a folder with a long name of letters and numbers, such as FC327F2C4EE8AA9858F0CAAFA06E40A4. The game does not show which folder is which world, so use the Date modified column to find the one you played last.
  • Another dedicated server: download the world folder from Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/, and the PalWorldSettings.ini from Pal/Saved/Config/ so you can copy your settings across.

Zip the world folder (right-click, Compress to ZIP file).

2. Upload it

  1. Start your server once and let it finish starting, then stop it. This creates the save folders.
  2. In the panel , open Files and go to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/.
  3. Upload your zip there and choose Unarchive. For big worlds use SFTP instead.
  4. Note the name of your world folder exactly. You can delete the empty world folder the server made in step 1.

3. Point the server at it

  1. Open Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini.
  2. Set DedicatedServerName= to your world folder’s name, for example DedicatedServerName=FC327F2C4EE8AA9858F0CAAFA06E40A4.
  3. Save and start the server.

If the world loads but your settings or passwords are ignored, the world brought a WorldOption.sav with it. See settings not applying.

Co-op worlds and the host’s character

In a co-op world the host’s character is saved under a special ID that a dedicated server does not use. After uploading, the host usually gets asked to make a new character, while friends who joined keep theirs.

To keep the host’s character, convert the save before you upload it with a community Palworld host save fix tool, following its instructions, then upload the converted folder. Keep your original zip in case the conversion goes wrong. If you get stuck, open a ticket before you overwrite anything on the server.

World folder is empty after a wipe

A new world is often only written to disk after someone joins. Start the server, join once, run /Save as admin (see admins and commands), and the folder appears.
