Server PanelAdding Ports

Your server comes with one port, its main game port. Some plugins and mods need another one: Geyser for Bedrock players, a voice chat mod, a web map such as BlueMap, Votifier and so on. You add these yourself from the panel .

We are moving our nodes to port ranges: blocks of ports set aside for one kind of traffic, such as Java, Bedrock or voice chat. Our firewall and DDoS protection are set up per range, so a port from the right range is better protected. Your Network tab shows which way your server works.

How to add a port

  1. Open your server in the panel and go to the Network tab.
  2. If you see an Add port button, your node uses port ranges. Click it, pick the range that matches what the port is for from the dropdown (each shows its protocol, ports and how many are free), and click Add port. You get a free port from that range straight away; the dialog shows the new address, and the range name is saved in the port’s notes.
  3. If you see a Create Allocation button instead, your node does not use port ranges yet. Click it to get a free port.
  4. Put the new port number in the plugin’s or mod’s config file.
  5. Restart your server so the new port starts working.

You can’t type in a port number of your own. Get a port first, then set your plugin to the port you were given.

Picking the right range

A port taken from the wrong range may not work. For example, a voice chat port taken from the Minecraft Java range can fail, because that range only lets Java connections through.

Premium+ nodes have these ranges, each matching one of our DDoS protection filters:

RangePortsUse it for
Minecraft Java25600-25699 (TCP)A second Java game port, such as a backend server behind a Velocity proxy
Minecraft Bedrock / Geyser19200-19299 (UDP)The port Bedrock players join on, for Geyser or a Bedrock server
Simple Voice Chat24500-24599 (UDP)The Simple Voice Chat mod or plugin
Votifier8200-8299 (TCP)Votifier and NuVotifier
FiveM30200-30299FiveM servers
Rust28100-28199Rust game, RCON and Rust+ ports
ARK: Survival Evolved7800-7899 (UDP)ARK game and query ports
Counter-Strike27100-27199Counter-Strike 2 game and RCON ports
Valheim2500-2599 (UDP)Valheim game and query ports
TeamSpeak10000-10099TeamSpeak voice, query and file transfer
Generic TCP40000-40099 (TCP)Anything else on TCP: web maps (BlueMap, Dynmap, squaremap), Plan, bot dashboards, APIs
Generic UDP41000-41099 (UDP)Anything else on UDP, such as other games’ ports

Budget+ nodes use Create Allocation for now.

If none of the ranges fits what you need, open a ticket on our Discord .

Moving an existing port to a range

Ports you already have keep working. To move one into the right range, for example your Geyser port:

  1. Add a new port from the matching range, as above.
  2. Change the plugin’s or mod’s config to the new port. For your main game port, click Make Primary on the new port instead.
  3. Restart your server and check that players can connect on the new port. Update anything that points at the old port: your server address, a domain’s SRV record, or your TCPShield settings.
  4. Delete the old port from your list.

Limits

Every server has a maximum number of ports. The Network tab shows how many you are using. Some ranges also allow only a set number of ports per server. When your server is at its limit the Add port button turns grey, and a range that is full or at its per-server limit is greyed out in the dropdown. To free a port, delete one you no longer need from your list (you can’t delete your main port).

⚠️

If a range shows Full, all of its ports are in use on your node. Pick another range that fits, or open a ticket.
